The fine open parkland surrounding Gawsworth Hall includes an Elizabethan pleasure garden and historic tilting ground. Once part of a vast 600 acre estate, today’s somewhat more modest 30 acres of woods, gardens and open grassland now plays host to a variety of outdoor events throughout the year. The annual spring and autumn Flower Power plant fairs are an opportunity to browse and buy unusual plants directly from the nurserymen and women who grow them, the classic car rally held each May Bank holiday is a feast of sparkling chrome and shiny paintwork, and the craft and Christmas fairs are hugely popular community events to which all visitors are warmly welcomed.
Midway between Macclesfield and Congleton; 2.5 miles south on the A536. Bus or taxi advised from Macclesfield town centre to Gawsworth.
