When Jon Rebecchi opened this restaurant in Styal in 2006 his aim was to serve local top-quality food. Within the first year they had won Cheshire Restaurant of the Year at the Cheshire Life Food & Wine Awards.
Eggs, poultry, pork and beef are sourced for the kitchen from Horsehoe Farm in Alderley Edge, which is also the site of the restaurant's bakery, while cheeses and vegetables come from around the region.
The 39 Steps now has an outside catering company and an internet wine shop, both helping to spread its fine food message beyond the dining room.
